Critical Commentary

This chart reflects responses to Question #20 from the Winter 2020 survey, which asked, “In the three months before COVID-19, did you experience energy service disruptions with any of the following?” This was a check-all-that-apply question, and there were 81 responses. The structured response options were:

  • Electricity

  • Heat

  • Oil

  • Internet

  • Air conditioning

  • Gas

  • Water

  • No

  • Other

The most common option selected was “No”, with 48 individuals selecting this, followed by “Internet”, with 25 individuals selecting this. Thirteen individuals selected “Electricity”, nine individuals selected “Heat”, eight individuals selected “Water”, four individuals selected “Gas”, and two individuals selected “Air conditioning”. Zero individuals selected “Oil”, and zero selected “other”. It’s important to note that many individuals selected multiple options.

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 83 people over a fourteen week period between December 2020 and March 2021. Visit the Winter 2020 Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 - Survey Results page to view more data from our survey. The project is approved by Drexel’s IRB.
