Starting on November 1, 2021, the Navy Yard will be powered by Dominion Energy for the next ten-to-fifteen years. The aim of this project is to provide reliable energy supply to the Navy Yard, which is projected to expand exponentially (in commerce, retail, and residential-type buildings) in the coming years. Additionally, and as explained in the article, Dominion Energy has been specifically chosen because it has previously worked with military power grids and would provide the most secure energy source. Questions to ask here are: for whom is this project tailored? What are the implications of this collaboration? Will Dominion Energy participate in clean energy and energy transitions?
