PHILconnectED, Philadelphia's free high speed internet program for low-income families with children in remote education has now expanded eligibility to Pre-K students. Previously, the program was eligible only to students in Kindergaden-12th grade.
Internet access is available to those who don't have access, have access only on mobile phones, are experiencing houselessness or home insecurity, or have students who live in areas where internet is not available.
Those who have access but pay for it can switch to the program if they participate in Medicaid or other public benefits, have students who are English learners, or have students who get special education services.
PHILconnectED is a program that is not discussed nearly as much as other energy programs. I think we should investigate including it as an energy program in further survey revisions.
