What bills do you pay? (Q29)

The chart reflects responses to Question #29 from the Spring 2020 survey, which asked, "Does someone in your household pay any of the following utility bills?" Responses were manually entered by survey administrators. The options available were "Electric, Gas, Oil, Internet, Water, All are included in rent, and Other." 

All eighty-six respondents answered this question. The most common bills people pay are electric, with seventy-nine respondents (91.9%) reporting to pay an electric bill. The second most common bill respondents reported paying was an internet bill, with seventy-nine respondents (91.9%). Gas and water had sixty-three (73.3%) and sixty (70%) respondents reporting to pay bills for them respectively. Two respondents (2.3%) reported not knowing if someone paid utility bills, seven respondents (8.1%) said the bills were included in rent, one respondent reported paying for oil (1.2%), and seven respondents (8.1%) mentioned other bills such as phone or trash bills.

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 86 people over a six week period in May-June 2020.
