Critical Commentary

This article details the ever-pressing housing crisis that has been exacerbated by the pandemic. That being said, even while specific and targeted assistance was set aside for homeless and transient homeless people, it was limited to only half a million counted homeless people, when in reality there is an estimated 8 to 11 million homeless people in the United States. Additionally, any measures that were instituted to help homeless families were easily revoked. The article also makes recommendations to solve the housing crisis that include forgiving housing debt, making evictions illegal, and ending the processes that allow for raising rents to become unaffordable, among a few.
