Critical Commentary

This article discusses the benefits of building pipelines across the United States, specifically in Pennsylvania where the energy market has provided vast avenues for jobs and the economy. In fact, the article states energy production and the energy market contribute $45 billion to Pennsylvania's local economy. The article also discusses our need to move forward with reduced emissions, which this project allegedly does since it reduces the risk of spills by transportation. However, one needs to be careful in the information that is relegated in the article, as the author claims the United States is leading the way in cutting down emissions (so far 2.8% since 2019), when in reality it is not but has simply just accelerated the process of cutting emissions. Other than that, the article does touch on the importance of energy transitions and the role it plays in helping the economy.
