What kind of maintenance is being deferred and what work is going on ahead? (Q43a Wi2020)

This chart reflects responses to Question #43a from the Winter 2020 survey, which asks respondents, “What kind of maintenance is being deferred and what work is going on ahead?” This was an open ended question.

Forty-two respondents answered this question. Of those that had maintenance going on as planned, 

• one respondent reported painting, 

• one respondent replaced their fridge, 

• one respondent had new tiles placed in their kitchen, 

• one respondent reported an appliance breaking, 

• one respondent got their roof replaced, 

• one respondent reported fixing their heater, 

• one respondent reported fixing a leak. 

Of the respondents that deferred maintenance, 

• eight respondents reported being unable to repair an appliance, 

• two respondents delayed painting, seven respondents delayed fixing a leak, 

• four respondent were unable to repair their windows, 

• four respondents were unable to replace their door, 

• three respondents delayed outdoor work, 

• six respondents delayed repairing their roof, 

• one respondent delayed putting up drywall, 

• two respondents delayed cement work, 

• one respondent delayed home renovations, 

• four respondents reported being unable to fix their heater, 

• two respondents delayed plumbing work.

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 83 people over a fourteen week period between December 2020 and March 2021.
