Renewable energy is making its way as one of the dominant sources of energy production in the United States. Currently, it accounts for 20% of the U.S.' energy production and is only surpassed by gas-powered energy production, which accounts for 40% of energy production in the nation. Coal energy production is significantly in decline, more specifically by 20% since 2019. Current administrations hope to move the United States in a renewable-energy dominant supply, with New Jersey being considered as a potential primary offshore wind-energy producer. Other areas in the nation are considering moving to 70-100% renewable energy by 2050.
