Critical Commentary

This chart reflects responses to Question #32a from the Spring 2020 survey, which asks respondents who are struggling to pay bills “what bills are you struggling to pay?” The options are electric, water, gas, internet, and phone, all of the above, none of the above, and I don’t know. Respondents could indicate multiple answers. Five respondents answered this question.

  • Four respondents (80%) reported struggling to pay their electric bill.

  • Two respondents (40%) indicated they were struggling to pay their gas bill.

  • Two respondents (40%) indicated they were struggling to pay their water bill.

  • Three respondents (60%) responded they were struggling to pay their internet bill.

  • One respondent (20%) indicated their phone bill was harder to pay.

  • One respondent (20%) said all of the above.

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 86 people over a six week period in May-June 2020. Visit the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 - Survey Results page to view more data from our survey. The project is approved by Drexel’s IRB.
