Critical Commentary
This chart reflects responses to Question #24 from the Winter 2020 survey, which asked “Has your home ever been weatherized through the state weatherization program (WAP)?” This was a check-all-that-apply question, and there were 81 responses. The options for this question were as follows:
Yes, it has been weatherized through WAP
No, my home is not weatherized
No, but I have weatherized my own home
I don’t know what weatherization is
I don’t know what WAP is
The most common response was “No, my home is not weatherized”, with 37 individuals selecting this option, followed by “Yes, it has been weatherized through WAP”, with 15 individuals selecting this option. Fifteen individuals chose “No, but I have weatherized my own home”, and 14 individuals chose “I don’t know what WAP is”. Eight individuals chose “I don’t know what weatherization is”, and 12 responses were categorized as “other”. The responses categorized as “other” stated that they were unsure if their home was weatherized, mentioned the Basic Systems Repairs Program in Philadelphia, and mentioned an Australian insulation program. It’s important to note that some individuals selected multiple options in their response.
The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 83 people over a fourteen week period between December 2020 and March 2021.
