Did members of your household take turns sharing devices, internet, or workspace before COVID-19? (Q27 Wi2020)

The chart reflects responses to Question #27 from the Winter 2020 survey, which asked: “Did members of your household take turns sharing devices, internet, or workspace before COVID-19?” The options available were, “Yes, we took turns using the internet.”; “Yes, we scheduled and shared use of computers, laptops, or tablets.”; “Yes, we scheduled use of or shared office space.”; “No, everyone had their own technology and space.”; “It varied from day to day”; “I lived alone prior to COVID-19.” and “N/A.” There were seventy-one respondents to this question.

• Forty-six respondents (64.8%) said everyone had their own technology and space. 

• Four respondents (5.6%) took turns using the internet. 

• Nine respondents (12.7%) said they scheduled and shared use of computers, laptops, or tablets. 

• Four respondents (5.6%) scheduled use of or shared office space. 

• One respondent (1.4%) stated it varied from day to day. 

• Six respondents (8.5%) answered they lived alone prior to COVID-18. 

• One respondent (1.4%) answered “other”, stating they did not have to share except during school, not specifying what they had to share. 

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 83 people over a fourteen week period between December 2020 and March 2021.
