Critical Commentary

This chart reflects answers collected from Question #11 on the Spring 2020 survey, which asked: “Are there children or college students in your household learning remotely through their schools?” The structured options were:

  • Yes, their school activities have been transitioned online.

  • No, we do not have the capacity to do school work at home. 

  • No, I do not live with any children.

  • No, school has been discontinued or put on hold due to COVID-19.

  • Intermittently

  • Other, please explain

Of the 86 respondents who answered this question the following was collected: 

  • 33 did not live with anyone (children or college students) who were schooling;

  • 47 said their children’s school activities had transitioned online; 

  • 2 respondents’ children were not currently schooling because they were on break;

  • 1 respondent was not schooling because they were on co-op; 

  • 2 respondents noted the school had been discontinued due to COVID-19; 

  • 1 respondent noted their children were intermittently schooling remotely.

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 86 people over a six week period in May-June 2020.
