Critical Commentary

Pennsylvania Senate Democrats have released their plans on how to spend the rest of the $1.3 billion COVID relief fund money, which would include stimulus to hospitals, small businesses, higher education, public safety workers, utilities, child care, food security, and hazard pay. Pennsylvania has spent half of the $3.6 billion they received as part of the CARES act.

Utility assisstance will make up 10% of the remaining $1.3 billion budget, meaning $130,000,000 will be available. The article does not detail the exact details of "utility assisstance." Hopefully, in time, we will see this money go to LIHEAP and other bill payment programs.
