Critical Commentary

The power sectors are greatly affected by the nationwide lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This lockdown has caused tremendous delays in power projects due to supply chain distruptions, manpower loss and reduction in funding. This article gives an understanding of how India, a country leading a global energy transition trend might undergo a topple due to the pandemic induced economic crisis.

The renewable sector is heavily dependent on imports from other regions, mainly China. The situation is getting more complex as the days progress and data analysis shows that countries should progress toward self-reliance and start domestic production to overcome this obstacle and to diversify their supply networks.
