Xfinity customers in Philadelphia reported service outages the morning of November 9th, however the outages were not exclusive to Philadelpia. Customers in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, have also reported connectivity problems. “Earlier, some customers experienced intermittent service disruptions as a result of a network issue. We have addressed the issue and service is now restoring for impacted customers, as we continue to investigate the root cause. We apologize to those who were affected." Comcast tweeted. This tweet came three hours after the first reported outage. According to their outage website, they expected to have service back up at 10:49 am EST. Articles I found on the outages didn't give a timeframe pertaining to its length. I think this article sparked my interest in the lack of details when internet outages occur. PECO's website for power outages allows users to report when and where the issue occured. It was then I realized that in order to report a utility outage, you need access to the internet. I wonder how many people's first thoughts when the internet goes out is "is this just my router braking or is it the neighborhood." If there's an electricity or a water outage, it's very easy to tell if it's your system or a local/statewide outage.
