Critical Commentary
The chart reflects responses to Question #50 from the Winter 2020 survey, which asked: “Has the survey made you think differently about energy?” This was an open-ended question, and there were 82 responses. Responses to this question were coded thematically, with all responses fitting into one of the following themes:
Yes
No
Yes, thinking more about energy and energy use
Yes, thinking more about energy assistance
Other
The most common theme was “Yes”, with 39 responses falling into this category, followed by “No”, with 24 responses falling into this category. Nine responses were categorized as “Other”, with responses articulating that the survey made individuals think more about energy, has reaffirmed their beliefs about energy, has made individuals more aware of energy burdens, and individuals being unsure if the survey made them think differently about energy. Six responses were categorized as “Yes, thinking more about energy assistance”, and five responses were categorized as “Yes, thinking more about energy and energy use”. It’s important to note that one response contained two themes.
The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 83 people over a fourteen week period between December 2020 and March 2021.
