Critical Commentary

This chart reflects responses to Question #3 from the Winter 2020 survey which asked: “Before the COVID-19 pandemic started, where did you call home?” The categorized responses are as follows:

  • I lived in a house or building that I own
  • I rented an apartment
  • I rented a house
  • I rented a room
  • I was homeless
  • I lived with a family member or friend
  • I lived in a mobile unit
  • I lived in a dorm
  • I lived in an assisted living arrangement/retirement home
  • Other:

A total of 83 respondents answered this question.

  • 38 respondents stated they lived in a house or building they own
  • 16 respondents stated they rent an apartment
  • 23 respondents stated they rent a house
  • 2 respondents stated they rented a room, one of whom had to rent a room because they couldn’t afford their old living arrangement 
  • 3 respondents said they lived with a family member or a friend
    • 2 of these respondents lived with their parents who own the house
  • 1 respondent said they live in a home their father purchased for them

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 83 people over a fourteen week period between December 2020 and March 2021.
