This chart reflects results from Question 25A on the Spring 2020 survey, which asks “What do you think helps make your home energy efficient?” This was a check-all-that-apply question, and there were 79 responses. The options for this question were “I have LED light bulbs”, “I have solar panels”, “My house is well insulated”, “I use water saving technologies”, “I have double-paned windows”, “I use Energy Star appliances”, “My electrical wiring is up to date”, “My stove does not emit any gas when I use it”, “My behaviors make my home energy efficient”, “I don’t know” and “other”. The most common option selected was “My behaviors make my home energy efficient”, with 51 individuals selecting this, followed by “I have LED light bulbs”, with 44 individuals selecting this. Forty-one individuals selected “I use Energy Star appliances”, and 37 individuals selected “My house is well insulated”. Twenty-seven individuals chose “I have double-paned windows”, 26 individuals chose “My electrical wiring is up to date”, 17 individuals selected “My stove does not emit gas when I use it”, and 14 individuals chose “I use water saving technologies”. Four individuals selected “I have solar panels”, and 10 individuals chose “other”. Individuals that chose “other” gave varying examples of how else their home is energy efficient, such as having a small home, partially sourcing their home energy from wind farms, and having a boiler as their home heating system. Zero individuals selected “I don’t know”. It’s important to note that some individuals selected multiple options within the same response.
