Critical Commentary

The chart reflects responses to Question #53 from the Winter 2020 survey, which stated, “I'm going to read a list of race and ethnic identities, please tell me which best describe(s) you? Check all that apply.” The available options were: 

  • An identity not listed

  • Asian

  • Black or African American

  • Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origins

  • Middle Easterner or North African

  • Native Hawiian or Other Pacific Islander

  • Prefer not to say

  • White

Eighty-two respondents answered this question. One respondent identified as Native American or Alaska Native. Five respondents identified as Asian. One respondent identified as Middle Easterner or Northern African. Fifty-five respondents identified as Black or African American. Ten respondents identified as White. Ten respondents identified as Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish Origins. One respondent identified as an identity not listed. Three respondents answered “prefer not to say.”

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 83 people over a fourteen week period between December 2020 and March 2021.
