Critical Commentary

The chart reflects responses to Question #44 from the Spring 2020 survey, which asked: “Have you ever enrolled in an energy assistance program to help with utility bill payment?” The pre-structured options were, “Yes, I have before COVID-19”; “Yes, I have since COVID-19 began”; “No I have not”; “I was unaware of such programs”; “I don’t know”; and “NA.”

There were eighty-four responses to this question.

  • Seventy-three (86.9%) said they have not had to enroll in an assistance program to help with utility payments.

  • One respondent (1.2%) said they had, before COVID-19 began and another respondent (1.2%) said they had since COVID-19 began.

  • Ten respondents (11.9%) said they are not familiar with such programs (three responded “no” and “I am unaware of such programs”).

  • One respondent (1.2%) did not know.

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 86 people over a six week period in May-June 2020. Visit the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 - Survey Results page to view more data from our survey. The project is approved by Drexel’s IRB.
