Community Renewable Energy Initiatives: Providing Green, Equitable Energy through Disrupting Power Structures

This essay looks into the implementation of Community Renewable Energy (CRE) initatives on their effectiveness to subvert traditional energy systems & bridge infrastructural gaps that would otherwise be left unaddressed. CREs can be found globally in areas where electricity acquisition is initially being explored, though can be ascribed for larger use during the currently-happening "energy transition" from the traditional model of fossil-fuel and grid-based electricity to a more diversified, expansive, and hopefully community-engaged renewable system of alternatives. Both green and in the hands of the consumer, CREs' implementation can be used to better cement principles of energy justice, energy equity, and provide greater awareness & security of energy issues in the areas they serve.
