Critical Commentary
The chart reflects responses to Question #45 from the Spring 2020 survey, which asked: “Are you aware of energy assistance programs that could help with utility bill payment during COVID-19?” The options available to respondents were, “Yes, my utility companies have sent emails or letters about programs”; “Yes, I have seen them post about it on social media”; “Yes, other.”; “Yes, I have seen ads on TV”; “No”; and “I don’t know.” Respondents could choose multiple options.
There were eighty-six responses to this question.
Sixty respondents (69.8%) said no.
Nine respondents (8.1%) said their utility company has sent them emails or letters about the programs.
Two respondents (2.4%) said they saw posts about them on social media.
Three (3.5%) had seen ads about them on TV.
Thirteen respondents (15.1%) said yes, other.
Four (4.7%) said they did not know.
The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 86 people over a six week period in May-June 2020.
