Having already doubled the country's solar power potential from 3GW to 7GW in just 18 months, this developing country is aiming to move ahead to reach their goal of 100GW by 2022. There is no denying this ambition, but the question really is, can India achieve these set targets with the current pandemic conditions which has caused a huge blow to the imports of the equipments or will they have to re-evaluate their goals?
This article is interesting as it talks about how India still relies heavily on coal, accounting for 60% of its total generation and how this might impact climate. This is also a concern for environmentalists despite the country's commitment to renewbale energy.
All in all as Modi's tweet "to live in harmony with nature" still echoes in the country and despite all the challenges, the country still continues to be optimistic to make this dream into an inspiring reality.
