This chart reflects answers collected from Question #8 from the Spring 2020 and Winter 2020 survey, which asked: “How has the COVID-19 pandemic impacted your employment?” The structured responses prepared for this question follow:
I have been laid off.
I have been furloughed.
My number of work hours has been cut.
My number of work hours has increased.
I am working remotely now.
I am now considered an essential worker.
I am employed under the exact same conditions.

A total of 163 respondents answered this question. The data collected follows:
22 respondents had been laid off
11 respondents had been furloughed
13 respondents had their hours increase
9 participant saw their hours cut
50 respondents were able to transition to a remote set-up
6 respondents were now considered essential workers
5 respondents noted it was an evolving situation
10 respondents noted they were retired
13 respondents, at the time of the survey administration, were employed under the same exact conditions as prior to the pandemic
4 participants quit or stopped working
1 participant said the pandemic has not affected their employment
1 participant said the pandemic was the reason they moved
1 participant said they were already on disability when the pandemic struck
1 respondent was a priest and noted less influx of money from the community
1 respondent had their summer job cancel
1 respondent said they were not employed for pay but volunteered instead
28 respondents were unemployed prior to the pandemic
The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey, which has been administered to 169 people over two time periods. The Spring 2020 survey was administered to 86 people between May and June, and the Winter 2020 survey was administered to 83 people between December 2020 and March 2021.
