Critical Commentary

This chart reflects responses to Question #3 from both the Spring 2020 and Winter 2020 surveys which asked: “Before the COVID-19 pandemic started, where did you call home?” The structured responses for this question follow: 

  • I lived in a house or building that I own

  • I rented an apartment

  • I rented a house

  • I rented a room

  • I was homeless

  • I lived with a family member or friend

  • I lived in a mobile unit

  • I lived in a dorm

  • I lived in an assisted living arrangement/retirement home

  • Other:

A total of 168 respondents answered this question. The data follows:

  • 68 respondents lived in a house or building that I own

  • 47 respondents rented an apartment

  • 30 respondents rented a house

  • 4 respondents rented a room

  • 13 respondents lived with a family member or friend

  • 4 respondents lived in a dorm

  • 1 respondent lived in a home purchased for them by their father

  • 1 respondents lived in a priest residence

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey, which has been administered to 169 people over two time periods. The Spring 2020 survey was administered to 86 people between May and June, and the Winter 2020 survey was administered to 83 people between December 2020 and March 2021.
