Critical Commentary

The chart here reflects answers collected from question #11 of the Winter2020 survey, which asked: Are there children or college students in your household learning remotely through their schools? The structured responses prepared by the research group follow: 

  • Yes, their school activities have been transitioned online.

  • No, we do not have the capacity to do school work at home. 

  • No, I do not live with any children.

  • No, school has been discontinued or put on hold due to COVID-19.

  • Intermittently

  • Other, please explain

Of the 72 respondents who answered this question, the following was collected:

  • 44 respondents noted their children had been able to transition to online schooling

  • 22 respondents said they did not live with any children who schooled remotely

  • 2 respondents noted their children schooled remotely intermittently

  • 2 respondents said their children did not attend school at all

  • 1 respondent said their children didn’t attend remote schooling at home

  • 1 respondent said their children were attending school in person

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 83 people over a fourteen week period between December 2020 and March 2021.
