Critical Commentary

This chart reflects answers from Question #12a on the Spring 2020 survey, which asked: “Do you have questions about how energy systems and utilities work?” To facilitate analyses of open-ended responses, the research team subdivided responses into the following categories. Seventy-one (71) people responded to this question, and the numbers next to each category are the number of respondents whose answer was included in the category.

  • How do utilities work? (usage and billing): 2

  • What are my options (in terms of utilities and energy sources)?: 5

  • Where does energy come from?: 2

  • Does not have questions (off the top of their head): 56

  • Probably has questions, just not at the moment: 6

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 91 people over a six week period in May-June 2020. Visit the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 - Survey Results page to view more data from our survey. The project is approved by Drexel’s IRB.
