This chart shows the results from Question #13 on the Spring 2020 survey, which asked, “What kind of heating system does your home use?” The structured responses prepared by the research group were as follow:
Forced air heat (central heat/furnace)
Forced air with cooling compressor
Space heaters
Radiators (boiler)
Electric heater (typically baseboard)
I don’t know.

From the 84 responses collected, the following were types of heating systems used in our sample:
26 people mentioned forced air heat as their heating system;
22 respondents mentioned radiators;
12 respondents reported having a forced air heat/cooling compressor;
7 respondents mentioned electric heaters;
3 respondents used space heaters;
15 did not know.
One (1) respondent noted they didn't control the heating in their home;
2 respondents said their heating systems are gas fueled;
1 respondent reported having a wall unit;
1 respondent said they had a water heater;
1 respondent said their heating system was a reverse cycle;
1 respondent had PTAC unit; and
1 respondent used a fireplace.
The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 86 people over a six week period in May-June 2020.
