The chart here reflects answers collected from question #13a of the Winter2020 survey, which asked: How did you learn about home energy systems? There were no structured responses for this question.
Of the 79 respondents who answered this question, the following was gathered (total may amount to more than 79 since several answers fit different categories:
33 said they learned about energy through a workshop, energy program, or community center: 33
18 said they learned about energy through home socialization and experience
7 respondents said someone with knowledge/skills educated them
4 respondents said they learned about energy through the sector of their employment
2 respondents were categorized as ‘other’ because their answers did not reference energy
5 respondents admitted they didn’t know
7 respondents said they learned about it at school
5 respondents said they learned about energy through their energy companies
2 respondents admitted they were never taught this information
2 respondents said they saw flyers or information on different types of media
5 respondents said they were self-educated on energy
The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey, which has been administered to 169 people over two time periods. The Spring 2020 survey was administered to 86 people between May and June, and the Winter 2020 survey was administered to 83 people between December 2020 and March 2021.
