Media Brief Themes - Energy Transition

The second most common themein our Media Briefs was energy transitions, which discussed the different ways structures of power were grappling with the issue of transitioning towards renewable energy. This theme ties in closely with another theme we often featured -- energy justice. We have used an energy justice framework for many of our projects outside of Media Briefs, including our newsletters, and our paper on Energy and Health. A just energy transition is one in which marginalized communities who are expected to disproportionately face the effects of climate change are placed in the center of transition plans and policy. Articles for this theme included ones focusing on Biden’s Build Back Better plan, infrastructure plans, local green energy initiatives, and energy ownership.
