Critical Commentary
The chart reflects answers to Question #15b from the Spring 2020 survey, which asked: “What might you do if you did lose heat?” Fifty-four (54) respondents answered this question and the following was collected:
15 respondents would call their landlords if they lost heat;
10 respondents would wear layers;
6 respondents would call their utility company;
10 respondents would call their HVAC company;
6 respondents would ask someone they know who works with heaters to help them;
5 respondents would see if they could figure it out themselves;
3 respondents would use space heaters;
1 respondents would use a fireplace;
3 respondents said they didn’t know;
The data here adds up to more than 54 because a couple of answers could be categorized in multiple options.
The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 86 people over a six week period in May-June 2020.
