Critical Commentary

This article was very shocking and eyeopening to me. Until reading this article the meer concept of keeping store doors open did not strike me as a costly activity. For years, retailers have kept exterior doors open in order to create a welcoming and inviting feel for their customers in hopes they would come inside. The brand H&M conducted an experiment to understand if this money and energy saving opportunity would really discourage foot traffic or not. Eventually they found that the brand would save an average of $10,000 per store each year. This massive financial savings goes to show just how dramatical the impact would be of improving energy efficiency in their 4,500 brick & mortar store locations.
