Critical Commentary
This chart reflects responses to Question #36 from the Spring 2020 survey, which asks respondents, “Have you received a shutoff notice for any of the following services?” The options listed were electric, gas, and water. Other options were “no”, “I don’t know”, and “other”.
There were eighty-four respondents and some chose more than one option.
Sixty-nine (82.1%) respondents said “no” they had never received a utility shut off notice.
Ten respondents (11.9%) indicated they had received a shutoff notice for water.
Two (2.3%) respondents did not know if they had.
Seven respondents (8.4%) indicated they had received an electricity shutoff.
One respondent (1.2%) said propane.
Two (2.4%) said they had received a shut off notice for gas.
One respondent (1.2%) mentioned accidentally getting a neighbor’s shut-off notice.
The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 86 people over a six week period in May-June 2020.
