Before the COVID-19 pandemic started, where did you call home? (Q3)

The chart represents the results of Question #3 from the Spring 2020 survey, which asks, “Before the COVID-19 pandemic started, where did you call home?” The options here shown were not read to respondents when administered and were recorded based on their own description of their housing arrangements. The chart here shows the percentages for the types of living arrangements in our respondent pool. The categorizations present on the survey were as follows:

I lived in a house or building that I own

I rented an apartment

I rented a house

I rented a room

I was homeless

I lived with a family member or friend

I lived in a mobile unit

I lived in a dorm

I lived in an assisted living arrangement/retirement home

As documented in the graph, out of 85 respondents, 40 respondents rent, 5 of which rent a home and 31 of which rent an apartment. 2 respondents rented a room, and 1 respondent rented a townhouse. Another 29 respondents in the sample own the dwellings in which they reside. Ten respondents lived with a family member or a friend; 4 respondents lived in a dorm; 1 respondent resided in a priest residence. One respondent lived with in a home their fiance owned. One respondent rented a rowhome.

The data was produced by the Shifting Energy Demands in COVID-19 Survey - Overview, which was administered to 86 people over a six week period in May-June 2020.
