This article discusses BIDs and community improvements, essentially some portions of gentrification processes that have 'taken over' the city. Improvements to neighborhoods is important because it brings in revenue to communities and can prove beneficial if and when housing in improved. However, if long-standing community residents are displaced that is not necessarily beneficial to the community and, instead, simply reap havoc on those neighborhoods. BIDs can be beneficial as long as they're not used as a means to privatize beautification services and safety in neighborhoods.
