India is one of the leading economies in the world and the issue of power outages and distribution losses can affect the industries terribly in terms of production, manpower and profits. According to a study, distribution line losses in India are found to be among the highest in the world, averaging at around 30%. Companies in Maharashtra’s Pune Chakan belt, one of the most industrialized areas in the country have experienced more than 40 power cuts in the past four years and this caused severe damage the equipment as well as time lost in breakdown. Another concern is the need to spend lakhs of rupees on generators to prevent lost time thereby increasing their electric bills. This article is an interesting read as it throws light on the issues faced by the commercial organization and we begin to think about the necessity of these industries to also switch to renewable energy sources. This will not only help with cutting electric bills and having energy supplied round the year, but it will also significantly help reduce the carbon emissions from the industries.
