Critical Commentary

This article discusses the lives of homeless commuter students in the Los Angeles area community colleges. It references the Helping Hands programming, which among other initiatives, is providing an allowance for gasoline to enable students to afford transportation costs of getting to and from college campuses. In addition, another organization called the Students4Shelter is referenced. This organization increases energy and housing security among homeless students by offering them free housing for a period of 6 months in a church that gives them the time to find their feet on the ground.
